Terms & Conditions

Effective 7 October 2026

The short version. BookLoop helps readers find each other. Sales happen directly between you and the other person, so we're not part of the deal. List only books you own and describe them honestly. Be respectful, meet safely, and don't misuse the app. We don't charge commission.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the BookLoop mobile app and this website (the "Service"), provided by BookLoop ("BookLoop", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please don't use the Service.

1. Who can use BookLoop

You must be at least 13 years old to use BookLoop. If you are under 18, you may use it only with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, who accepts these Terms for you. You must be able to form a binding agreement under the law that applies to you, and must not have been banned from the Service before.

2. Your account

  • You sign in with your Google account. The information in your profile must be accurate and kept up to date.
  • You are responsible for everything that happens under your account. Keep your device and Google account secure, and tell us straight away if you think someone else has used your account.
  • One person, one account. Don't impersonate anyone, and don't create accounts to get around a suspension.
  • You can delete your account at any time in the app (Account → Delete account), as described in our Privacy Policy.

3. How the marketplace works

BookLoop is a platform that connects people who want to buy and sell books. BookLoop is not a party to any sale. We don't own, check, store, ship or guarantee any book listed, and we don't process payments. Every agreement is directly between the buyer and the seller, and they are responsible for it. We don't charge commission or fees on sales.

4. Listing books

  • List only physical books that you own and are entitled to sell or give away.
  • Describe each book honestly: its title, author, edition, condition and any damage. Use photos of the actual copy.
  • The price you set is your offer. Once you agree a deal, honour it, or let the other person know promptly if the book is no longer available.
  • Keep your listings current. Mark a book reserved or sold when it is. Listings expire after a set period unless you renew them.
  • We may limit how many listings you can create or change in a given period, to keep the marketplace useful and free of spam.

5. What's not allowed

You agree not to:

  • list counterfeit, pirated or photocopied books, or anything other than books;
  • list anything whose sale is illegal where you or the buyer are, or post content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, sexually explicit or violent;
  • harass, threaten, scam or mislead other users, or ask for advance payment, one-time passwords or financial details;
  • post spam, use BookLoop for unrelated advertising, or put contact details or links in listings to move deals off the platform for fraudulent purposes;
  • copy, scrape or harvest data from the Service, or use bots or automated means to access it;
  • interfere with the Service, try to break its security, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law allows it;
  • infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights, including by posting photos you didn't take or don't have the right to use.

6. Meeting and payment

Buyers and sellers agree among themselves how and where to hand over a book and how to pay. For your safety, we strongly recommend that you:

  • meet in a busy public place during the day, and tell someone where you're going;
  • check the book before you pay;
  • never pay in advance, and never share passwords, one-time passwords or bank details.

You are responsible for your own safety and for any transaction you choose to make. If something goes wrong, please report it in the app.

7. Your content

You keep ownership of the photos, descriptions, messages and other content you post ("Your Content"). You give BookLoop a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, display, adapt (for example to resize photos) and distribute Your Content to operate, improve and promote the Service. That includes featuring public listings on BookLoop's own social media pages. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except where the content has already been shared with others or we must keep it by law.

You confirm that you have the rights needed to post Your Content and that it complies with these Terms.

8. Free features and ads

BookLoop is free and supported by ads. Some optional extras, such as boosting a listing so more people see it, may be unlocked by watching an ad. These extras have no cash value, can't be transferred or exchanged, and may change or end at any time. Ad-based rewards may be limited, and misuse (for example, automated ad viewing) may lose them.

9. Moderation and termination

We may review listings, messages and reports to keep BookLoop safe. We may hide or remove content, limit features, or suspend or close accounts that break these Terms, put other users at risk, or that we're required to act on by law. Where reasonable, we'll tell you why. If you think we got it wrong, contact us.

You can stop using BookLoop at any time. Sections 7 and 10 to 12 continue to apply after your account is closed.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available". To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, about the Service or any listing. That includes the accuracy of listings, the quality, safety or legality of books, or the conduct of users. Distances, suggested prices and recommendations are estimates. We don't guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, BookLoop and its team will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, the Service, or from any dealings between users. BookLoop is free, so our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to ₹1,000 (or the equivalent in your currency). Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.

You agree to indemnify BookLoop against claims arising from Your Content, your transactions with other users, or your breach of these Terms.

12. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts of India have jurisdiction over any dispute, except where the consumer protection laws of your country of residence give you the right to bring a claim locally.

13. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms as BookLoop evolves. We'll post the new version here with a new effective date and, for significant changes, let you know in the app. If you keep using the Service after a change takes effect, you accept the updated Terms.
